Disney+ gave the green light for season 2 of the Korean crime series Made in Korea before its first season premiered, and production on the sequel has already begun.
The renewal was revealed during a panel discussion between stars Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung, Woo Do-hwan and director Woo Min-ho at the Disney+ original screening held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on Thursday. The streamer also confirmed that season 1 will begin on December 24th.
Set in 1970s South Korea, this crime noir follows Baek Ki-tae, a KCIA agent who lives a double life as a smuggler. An ambitious operative uses illegal activities to rise up the ranks of the agency while protecting his brother and amassing wealth. His promotion hits a roadblock when he comes face-to-face with an incorruptible prosecutor, sparking a high-stakes battle between the two.
Hyun Bin (“Crash Landing on You,” “Secret Mission”) will play the role of investigator Baek Ki-tae, Jung Woo-sung (“12.12: That Day”, “The Hunt”) will play prosecutor Jang Geun-young, and Woo Do-hwan (“Bloodhound”, “Mr. Plankton”) will play Ki-tae’s younger brother Baek Ki-hyun.
The series is written by Park Eun-kyo (The Silent Sea, Mother) and Park Joon-seok (An Ordinary Family), and directed by Woo Min-ho (The Next Man, Inside Men). Hive Media Corp (“Inside Men,” “The Man Standing Next,” “12.12: The Day”) will produce.
‘Made in Korea’ will be premiered in two episodes on December 24th, followed by episodes 3 and 4 on December 31st. The fifth episode will be aired on January 7th, and the final episode will be aired on January 14th. Season 2 is scheduled for the end of 2026.
The announcement came during a showcase of Disney+’s upcoming Japanese, Korean and international content for 2026 and beyond, highlighting the company’s investment in international original programming for the platform.
