In her lifestyle brand As Ever’s December 30 newsletter, the Duchess of Sussex described a simple celebration centered around a midnight toast at home. “When the clock strikes midnight, we will celebrate with you,” Meghan wrote on InStyle. “The glasses go up, the bubbly bottles burst, and the confetti flies. Only in our case, flower sprinkles fall instead,” she added, referring to one of the brand’s products.
“Pouring a refreshing brut, a joyful toast, and our best wishes to you. May the year ahead be filled with good company, memorable nights, and reasons to celebrate,” she continued, concluding with “Cheers, everyone!”
The note suggests the couple is having a relaxed New Year’s Eve, which is in line with Meghan’s previous comments about how they approach the holiday since becoming parents. Earlier this year, she explained on her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, that she and Prince Harry are practicing what she jokingly called an “East Coast New Year,” celebrating when the ball drops at 9 p.m. Pacific Time and heading home early.
The couple’s New Year’s celebrations come after a quiet Christmas spent at home in Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4. Meghan shared glimpses of her family’s holiday traditions through her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” including opening British Christmas crackers and preparing Christmas Eve gumbo based on her mother Doria Ragland’s recipe.
She also created personalized advent calendars for the kids and wrote notes that reflected what they liked most. “Hopefully, I can use this for a long time,” she said after making the present. “Tradition must have a beginning.”
