Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are celebrating a big milestone: their 15th wedding anniversary.
The actor and model/actress celebrated their wedding anniversary on December 26th and spent the holiday season at the beach with their families. Two days later, Pataky shared a glimpse of the celebration on Instagram, which showed the couple enjoying time together outdoors with their children and other loved ones, wearing Santa hats. “Happy Holidays!!😍🎅,” she wrote in the caption.
Hemsworth and Pataky met through Hemsworth’s talent agent in 2010 and were married by December of the same year. The couple wed over Christmas weekend in Australia, where Hemsworth grew up, but details of the ceremony were largely kept private.
Daughter India Rose was born in 2012, and twin sons Tristan and Sasha were born in 2014. The following year, while both were working in Hollywood, the couple decided to move their family from Los Angeles to Australia. “There (Byron Bay), none of the people I interact with or my close friends are actually in the industry, so it’s very refreshing and great for my kids and my wife,” Hemsworth told The Sunday Telegraph in 2020.
Pataky spoke candidly about how quickly their lives changed in the early days of their relationship. In a 2018 interview with Vogue Australia, she reflected on meeting Hemsworth before his career skyrocketed. “It was beautiful at first. When I met him, he was completely unknown. And I grew up with him and experienced all of his successes and changes. And he’s grown so much and I’ve been sharing that too,” she said.
She also reflected on the pressures that come with major career growth, marriage, and raising children. “We did everything very quickly. I don’t know how we survived as a couple,” Pataky told the magazine. “We got married and a year later we had a child. There’s a lot of pressure in marriage, but there’s a lot of love between us, so it worked out. We’re very strong characters, but we love each other very much. We get along well.”
Hemsworth credits Pataky with being a steadying presence throughout his career. When he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2024, he gave her a special shoutout in his acceptance speech. “I would like to thank my beautiful wife who has basically been by my side throughout my career, constantly encouraging and supporting me,” he said, adding, “And it was no mistake for me that she put aside her own dreams to support mine. (I am) forever in your debt.”
