Variety reported that Hope Davis has joined the pilot of the NBC drama “Protection”.
Davis is the second cast member announced for the pilot, following the casting of Peter Krauss. The project was piloted on NBC in January.
The show’s logline reads:
“When a U.S. marshal takes the job, a law enforcement family becomes the target of a mysterious assassin, and a seemingly simple case turns into a deadly conspiracy. Bridging personal differences and transcending professional boundaries, the Thornhill family must use a lifetime of expertise protecting civilians and politicians to protect each other and bring the killer to justice…even if it means betraying the oath of office.”
Davis stars as Joan, who is described as “a federally appointed U.S. marshal who is strong, steely, and well-respected in the workplace.”
Davis has been nominated for three Emmy Awards, most recently for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama for her role as Sandy Furness on the hit HBO series “Succession.” She was previously nominated for the 2010 TV movie “Special Relationships” as well as the HBO show “In Treatment.” Her recent film roles include “The Mastermind” directed by Kelly Reichert and “See You When I See You” directed by Jay Duplass.
She is repped by UTA and Kipperman Management.
“Protection” comes from writer and executive producer Josh Safran. Jenna Bush Hager will also serve as an executive producer, along with Ben Spector. Rebecca Thomas (“Limetown,” “Stranger Things”) will direct and executive produce the pilot. The studio is Universal Television.
