As part of its “Respect for the Set” initiative, the Hollywood Commission has released new online resources aimed at simplifying and supporting anti-harassment practices specifically for independent, low-budget productions.
“Respect on Set” is a program developed by the Hollywood Commission to provide producers with resources and guidelines to create a safer and more inclusive work environment. Developed in close collaboration with INDIEn, consisting of producers Jeanette Volturno, Monica Levinson, and Bart Rosenblattn, the new “Respect on Set” tool brings together industry-aligned best practices, templates, and implementation resources in one place.
The Hollywood Commission surveyed entertainment workers and found that compared to workers at major studios, workers on low-budget productions experience more sexual coercion and assault, but have fewer tools and support to report and prevent these abuses.
‘Respect on Set’ was created to provide independent productions with a digital toolkit. The digital toolkit includes sample codes of conduct, customizable policy templates, pre-production audit and implementation checklists, communication tools, training resources, and practical guidance for meeting your IATSE LBA responsibilities.
