Hilary Duff addressed “family drama” after fans long suspected she and sister Hailey were feuding.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about the new song, Hilary admitted that she finally feels like she’s “ready to fill the void and share it with people and connect on the level that I’m on now.”
She went on to explain that she and Hwang have been through “a lot of the same things: complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorce, trying to find yourself as an adult, and family drama.”
“Finally, I felt safe and comfortable enough within my family to go out and open up that part of myself again,” she said.
Hilary’s new interview comes after years of rumors of a sibling feud. Once very close, Hilary, 38, and Hailey, 40, not only haven’t been photographed together in years, but they also don’t seem to like or comment on each other’s social media posts.
So far, Hailey hasn’t posted anything about Hilary’s new music.
Additionally, they have not been seen together in public since March 2019, when they were spotted shopping in Los Angeles, California.
The reason for the sisters’ alleged feud is unclear, but Dumois previously claimed that he and Hilary’s husband, Matthew Koma, had gotten into an argument over a disagreement with Hailey and her fiancé, Matthew Rosenberg.
Fans are also discussing various theories on Reddit, with some claiming that Hailey did not attend Hilary and Koma’s 2019 wedding. However, various reports at the time claimed that Hailey attended the ceremony.
Representatives for Hilary and Haley did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Duff released his first single in 10 years, “Mature,” on Friday. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, she described the song as “speaking to my younger self about what we went through.”
Further, she stated that the song reflects that experience, “taking it in and having a moment to joke with yourself a little bit, accepting the past and being happy with where you’ve landed.”
In September, Duff announced that she had signed with Atlantic Records and was working on a documentary series featuring interviews, performances, and videos from her personal archive.
