After Taylor Swift released her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, Jason Kelsey highlighted an important question: Has her brother Travis Kelsey been playing better football since Swift released his song celebrating masculinity?
Jason, 37, got to the bottom of it on the Oct. 15 episode of his and Travis’ New Heights podcast, where the former NFL star shared his brother’s stats from Chiefs games before and after Swift, 35, released her song “Wood” on Oct. 3. The song includes vulgar lyrical references to his “sequoia trees” and his “love” being “the key that opened my thighs.”
Travis, 36, laughed when Jason shared the “‘Wood’ stats” that a fan posted on X.
Jason read, “Pre-Wood Travis Kelce: 4 games, 15 catches, 188 yards, 1 touchdown.”
“Travis Kelce after ‘Wood’ release: 2 games, 139 yards, 1 touchdown.”
Travis said it was “funny” about the comparison and that his brother was reading it on the podcast, and Jason, whose wife Kylie said “Wood” is one of her favorite songs off Swift’s new album, concluded after considering the statistics, “I don’t know if it matters, but it’s funny.”
Swift cheered on her boyfriend at a Chiefs game on Oct. 12 for the first time since the release of her album. Swift was joined by WNBA star Caitlin Clark in the Chiefs’ win over the Lions.

Jason hasn’t given up on his brother since Swift released the sexy song, which Travis admitted was “terrifying” for his father Ed Kelce to hear. Jason continues to tease the Chiefs star with questions such as, “Do you feel about the song ‘Wood’? I’m not sure, but do you think it’s cocky?” And he said, “This isn’t just a song. This is a very specific you.”
Travis tried to shoot down the insinuation by saying he thought the song was “great” and joking that he thought Jason just “didn’t get it.”
Travis and the Chiefs got off to a rocky start to the season, losing their first two games for the first time since 2014 and suffering a disappointing third loss on Oct. 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The following week, they returned to the win column with a 30-17 victory over Jared Goff’s Detroit Lions on October 12th.
The Chiefs will next host the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 19 at Arrowhead Stadium.
