In a development that may come as a shock to Indiana Jones fans, Harrison Ford didn’t actually understand most of the Easter eggs sprinkled throughout Season 3 of The Shrinking, nodding to the iconic action-adventure series.
During the show’s Apple FYC event, hosted by Variety’s Emily Longeretta, Ford, who famously starred in the movie Indiana Jones, was asked what he thought about the references to the movie in the third season of the Apple TV drama, including crooning the iconic theme song, Raiders of March.
“Actually, I had no idea that the melody I was saying was from ‘Indiana Jones,'” Ford said at the panel, to which the rest of the cast and crew burst into laughter. “Did you think I was just making this up?” asked Jason Segel.
“I thought it was something familiar that everyone knew!” continued Mr. Ford. “This is the song that Harrison hums every time he walks into any room,” joked Shrinking co-creator Bill Lawrence.
The actor also revealed that the song was once played in the operating room when he was scheduled for a colonoscopy. Ford also did not address the reference in the Season 3 finale of The Shrinking, in which he tweeted, “Choose wisely.” During a panel discussion, Michael Urey told him that it was from “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” Ford cheerfully replied, “Oh, yeah!”
Lawrence also revealed that there was a third Indiana Jones reference that people weren’t aware of. It’s a Raiders of the Lost Ark prop that Jimmy and Meg (Lily Rabe) see in the background of Paul’s trailer.

In addition to Ford, Siegel, Urey and Lawrence, cast members including Jessica Williams, Luke Tenney, Ted McGinley and Lukita Maxwell took to the stage to talk all about Season 3 of Shrinking, which concluded on April 8.
When asked how he plans on making it through Season 3, Lawrence replied, “Oh, no. It’s all downhill from here.”
“No, look, the writers’ room is so exciting and nerve-wracking when you have these actors and actresses. … That’s why we did it this way, okay? We could have ended Year 4 and Year 5 with that scene with Paul and Jimmy. But what a gift to try to come up with something new. I think we’ve got something great with a good new story to see where each of these actors and actresses go from here and jump ahead a little bit.”
Lawrence previously announced that season 4 would be a “whole new story,” but he described it as “scary/dangerous/fun” and added that it would be “a new story with the same cast.”
