Ned Fulmer revealed Sunday that he has been battling multiple sclerosis for the past 12 years.
The internet personality and former member of The Try Guys broke the news in a video posted to YouTube on Nov. 23 titled “I Have MS.” Fulmer explained that in 2013, she went to the hospital for an MRI after feeling numbness in her hands, arms and back for several days. As a result, it was discovered that he had a lesion in his brain.
“The doctor said, ‘You probably have multiple sclerosis,’ and I thought, ‘What? Isn’t that really bad?'” Fulmer recalled. “I was in complete denial. I didn’t want to get MS.”
Fulmer said she left the hospital hoping the numbness would go away on its own. However, my symptoms got worse. He recalled his terrible fear when he felt weak and collapsed while walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night. He was then rushed to hospital for further tests and treatment.
He said of what happened: “I remember sitting in the hospital bed, my symptoms getting worse and worse, and I was so scared and wondering if I would ever be able to walk again.”
Fortunately, after being given medication, he was able to move his legs again. Fulmer said her recovery “felt like a miracle.” More than a decade after his diagnosis, Fulmer revealed that a recent MRI scan came back “clean,” but added that he still suffers from “low-level sensory issues.”
“I kept it a really big secret for a long time, and I don’t think that was very healthy for me,” Fulmer said. “I’m trying to be more open, just in conversations. I’m so grateful to be in remission and so happy to be able to make this video.”
