The beta movie is riding “A Nice Confusion – Rob the Rich.” It’s a keen social drama that means catching up with Jones is turning into a crime.
The six-part farce blends adventure with romantic comedy and class satire follows Justin (Eleonore Bernheim, “The Art of Crime”) and Remi (Gil Alma, “The Wagner Law”). Desperate to maintain their appearance, they dive straight into a nocturnal double life, rediscovering them halfway through, revealing bigger secrets and rediscovering each other for a long time to make an impression.
Produced by Paris-based Indie Redstone for French television, “A Lovely Mess – Rob the Rich” comes from writer Sarah Tissandier and director Stéphanie Pillonca. More serialized than procedural, the show still leaned towards the “misdemeanor” tradition of French television. It’s a playful tone that has proven to travel with audiences both domestically and internationally.
Betafilm will be selling internationally on Mipcom as part of a diverse lineup, including the series Mozart Mozart, Empathy, and Velvet New York – The New Empire.
Produced by German Storyhouse Pictures (“Sisi”) and ARD, Mozart Mozart rethinks the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart through the eyes of his talented sister Maria Anna. Here she performs for her brother Joseph II, navigates the challenges of court life, and envisions the identity of the brothers to pursue her own ambitions.
From Canada, “Resonance,” a multi-award winning drama from Florence Long Pres, will be appearing. The series follows psychiatrist criminologist Suzanne, who returns to a safe psychiatric facility to treat dangerous patients using unconventional methods that make colleagues uneasy. The show recently won Crave Canada’s top performance fiction debut and The Audience Award in the series Mania 2025.
Finishing the slate is the “Velvet New York – New Empire,” the US adaptation of the highly acclaimed Spanish hit “Velvet.” Set in the fascinating world of New York fashion, the series follows a young tailor and fashion heirs as they navigate love, loss and betrayal amid ambition and social intrigue. The series is Telemundo’s No. 1 Spanish program, attracting 1.29 million viewers and is well above the network’s average.
