NBC has detailed many changes over the past few weeks on Saturday Night Live, particularly among the cast of the show. However, until the program’s 51 season premiere, one of the most important changes in the program went private.
After a host stint for Bad Bunny, credits rolling early Sunday morning revealed the elevation of longtime producer Erindoyle to the show’s top tier of production staff. Doyle joins two “SNL” stubborn guys, Steve Higgins and Erik Kenward, at the top level of managing the series, which remains an executive produced by Lorne Michaels.
The NBC spokeswoman for the show declined to comment on Doyle’s new role. Neither the network nor the show has announced changes to production staff.
Doyle’s overall responsibility may not be that different. After joining “SNL” as an intern in 2009 and working as one of Michaels’ many assistants, she rose to the show’s ranks. “She has a tactile warmth. There’s a tricky touch to dealing with famous and well-known people, like Michaels. She’s also producing shows for his production company, Broadway Video,” writes Morrison, who writes, “it works sometimes” as the show’s conscience.
However, she has risen to a new level that hasn’t changed much with “SNL.” Kenward has been one of the program’s senior producers since 2011 and has joined the program in 2001 as a writer. Higgins regularly appeared as a sideman on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” and has been on SNL since 1995.
