The cast of Jason Statham’s new (and self-referential) action comedy, Jason Statham Stalls My Bike, has been expanded.
Eddie Penn, Daniel Ings and Artie Wilkison-Hunt are attached to the film, which is directed by David Leitch and stars Statham and the recently announced Hannah Waddingham. The film was co-produced by Statham’s regular collaborators Black Bear and Leitch’s 87 North, and was written by Alison Friel, who developed the story with Scott Chernoff.
The plot of “Jason Statham Stall My Bike” is being kept secret, but Statham will play a fictionalized version of himself, similar to Nicolas Cage in “The Unbearable Weight of Great Talents” or Jean-Claude Van Damme in “JCVD.”
Kelly McCormick and Leitch are producers on 87 North, along with Statham of Punch Palace Productions, John Friedberg of Black Bear, and Meredith Berg and Ethan Irwin of Beryllium Entertainment. “The Fifth Season” and “Tango” will serve as executive producers. Black Bear will release the film in North America on August 6, 2027.
One of the best-known names in Chinese-language film, Peng has starred in films such as Guan Fu’s Black Dog, which earned him critical acclaim, including the 2024 Cannes Un Certain Regard Award. He has worked with Asian directors such as Zhang Yimou, An Hui, Dante Lam, and Jiang Wen. Peng co-starred with Matt Damon in “The Great Wall,” and will also produce and star in the upcoming Chinese version of “The Night Manager.”
Meanwhile, Ings reunites with Waddingham following “The Woman in Cabin 10.” His extensive television work includes HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the Emmy Award-winning Guy Ritchie-directed The Gentlemen, the Netflix hit Sex Education, the cult favorite Lovesick, and the BAFTA award-winning HBO I Hate Suzie. On the big screen, he has appeared in Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter and Susanna White’s Prima Facier, co-starring Cynthia Erivo. Upcoming series include The Husband opposite Juno Temple for A24 and Apple TV, and The Rachel Incident for Channel 4 and Element Pictures.
Young Wilkinson Hunt’s credits include Travis Knight’s Masters of the Universe, Gore Verbinski’s Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, and HBO’s long-running hit CB Strike. He played Young Thomas in the National Theater production of The Land of the Living, directed by Stephen Daldry, for which he was nominated for a What’s on Stage Award and a Critics Circle Drama Award. Upcoming appearances include DJ Caruso’s “A Visit to Grandpa’s” and Peter Straughan’s “Berlin Noir.”
In addition to “Jason Statham Stole My Bike” and “Viva La Madness,” also starring Statham, Black Bear’s upcoming releases include “The Rivals of the King,” starring Matthew McConaughey, “Spa Weekend,” starring Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, Michelle Buteau and Anna Faris, and the Sundance production “The Wicker,” starring Olivia Colman and Alexander. “A Woman in the Sun,” directed by Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage, and Julia Cox, starring Renée Zellweger and Sissy Spacek, and co-starring Mia Sleapleton.
