YouTube’s Dead Meat team is adding a ticketed livestream event to its annual horror awards show for the first time.
Produced by James A. Janis and Chelsea Rebecca, the husband-and-wife duo behind the popular YouTuber channel Dead Meat, the pre-recorded 5th Annual Dead Meat Horror Awards will be released on YouTube on July 18th, with a simultaneous screening at Pacific Electric in Los Angeles.
The in-person event, which will also include a red carpet, will be attended by the “Dead Meat” team and award presenters. Additionally, some winners will be picked up directly at the same time as the livestream.
Dead Meat describes the Horror Awards as “an annual celebration of the best horror films of the past year, created as a response to the tendency of mainstream awards shows to neglect the genre,” adding, “Awards are presented in traditional categories such as Best Director and Best Actor, as well as horror-specific categories such as Best Villain and Best Kill, and are presented by some of the most prominent creators in the horror world.”
The decision to create this year’s Dead Meat Awards livestream event comes amid a huge buzz in YouTube’s horror creator community, which has seen the success of new horror films like Obsession and Backrooms and the birth of filmmakers like Curry Barker and Caine Parsons.
Presenters on this year’s show include Charlotte Cregan, David Dastmalchian, Kane Hodder, David Howard-Thorton, Radio Silence and Hannah May Lee.
Information on when and where you can purchase tickets to the 2026 Dead Meat Horror Awards screening will be announced soon.
