“Saturday Night Live” stars Colin Jost and Michael Che continued their annual Christmas tradition of writing deeply offensive jokes to tell their partners on Weekend Update. Except for this year, Che lied to Jost that he hasn’t done the annual exchange, but that he’s still preparing his own exchange. Therefore, Jost was the only one who read out loud, much to the delight of Che and the audience.
A year after he forced his co-host to make a harsh joke about Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson, who was watching backstage, Che once again held back for Jost.
“Critics say the U.S. Mint’s new series of coins celebrating great moments in our nation’s history ignores civil rights. But what about coins that celebrate the ships where black people actually came from?” Jost reluctantly begins to read as Che smiles at him.
Jost continued, “The Archdiocese of New York is going to establish a fund for victims of church sexual abuse. So what’s the point in me staying silent and arrogant?” When Jost reads his final prepared joke, the audience gasps in laughter, and Che says that Jost should have written him.
“New research shows millions of women are quitting their jobs due to menopause, which means I only have a few more years left on the gravy train,” Jost grimaced as a photo of Johansson flashed on the screen. “My daughter is already saying, ‘Colin, it’s warm. Colin, you’re sweating.'” Bitch, you’re feeling hot. ”
“But don’t worry, I have backup. They don’t call Wednesday hump day for nothing,” Jost concluded, as a photo of Jenna Ortega’s Netflix character Wednesday Addams appeared on screen.
