Cole Escola has joined the cast of Netflix’s “One Piece” Season 3.
They will play the roles of Bon Clay in the live-action adaptation of the manga series of the same name. The official character description reads: “A master of performance and precision, Bon Clay is a dazzlingly dangerous, theatrical assassin who turns combat into an art form.
“One Piece” was renewed for season 3 in August, but season 2 is scheduled for March 10th and has not aired yet. According to the official logline, the series follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) on his “adventure journey to find the legendary treasure One Piece and become the Pirate King.” In Season 2, “Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates set sail on the Great Passage, a fabled sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasures, they will encounter strange islands and many terrifying new enemies.”
Escola is the writer of the play “Oh, Mary!,” which opened on Broadway in 2024 and is currently running. They appeared on the show for several months as Mary Todd Lincoln and won a Tony Award for Best Actor. On screen, he is best known for starring as Chip Wreck in Seasons 3 and 4 of HBO Max’s “Search Party,” with other credits including TruTV’s “At Home With Amy Sedaris” (2017-2020) and Hulu’s “Difficult People” (2015-2017). They also served as scriptwriters for “Ziwe,” which aired on Showtime from 2021 to 2022, and appeared in multiple episodes.
“One Piece” is produced by Netflix and ITV’s Tomorrow Studios in partnership with Shueisha, which published the original manga series. Joe Trucks and Ian Stokes will serve as showrunners for Season 3 and executive produce alongside Eiichiro Oda, who wrote the manga series, and Tomorrow’s Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements.
