French sales attire Celluloid Dream has joined the world sales rights for “The Forgotten Tree Song,” the debut feature of Anuparnaroy, an Indian filmmaker who bows in the Horizon section of Venice.
Variety debuts only the first clip of the film.
The Mumbai set drama follows Thooya, an immigrant and ambitious actress who uses her beauty and wit to navigate the city. When she sublimates her sugar dad’s luxury apartment into a fellow immigrant Sweta, working in corporate jobs, two women from seemingly different worlds begin to share more than just living spaces. In Mumbai’s relentless pulse, they discover quiet empathy, but their delicate connections face tests as a resurfacement of personal history, desires and wounds.
The film stars Naz Shayf and Sumi Baghel, with Bhushan Singpi, Ravi Man, Pritam Piranha and lovely Singh supporting the role. Debjit Samanta handled the filming, edited by Ashish Patel and music by Nishint Ramteke.
Indian Auther Anurag Kashyap presents the project in the context of Flip Film’s Ranjan Singh, River Story Film’s Bivansh Rai, Romill Modi, Romill Casting’s Romill Casting’s Robill Modi, Nouve Sils Nabin Shetty, and Sharib Khan and Vikas Kumar of Khan & Kumar Media.
