How did ‘Wednesday’ top Lady Gaga’s Season 2 guest appearance?
That’s what Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia in the Netflix series, tells Danny DeVito.
Zeta-Jones’ husband Michael Douglas and DeVito have been friends for decades.
“I don’t know why Danny DeVito hasn’t been cast yet,” Zeta-Jones told me Sunday at the “Wednesday” FYC event at the Netflix Tudorum Theater in Hollywood. “I was with him on his birthday in September (she and Douglas share the same birthday, September 25th), and I thought, ‘Why isn’t Danny DeVito on Wednesday?'”
She also said, “Imagine Danny DeVito as Cousin Itt. That would be pretty cool.”
Well, it’s just that the Oscar winner for “Chicago” offered DeVito the role. “He’s going to kill me for that. He was like, ‘Yeah, they’re going to cast me and put hair all over my face. Thanks for the suggestion, Katherine.'”
Zeta-Jones also revealed her reaction when she heard that Lady Gaga was planning to film a movie starring her. “It was top secret. I didn’t tell Michael. I didn’t tell the kids,” she said. “I’m a good girl, right? I don’t tell anyone. When it actually came out, I had to deal with the fact that my family looked at me and were like, ‘I can’t believe we’re the last people who know about Gaga.'”
When she saw Gaga, she said she looked like a “17-year-old groupie.” Zeta-Jones said: “I truly believe that she is a generational talent. I’m so happy to have met[her]and would love to work with her on something more.”
The cast and crew are expected to reunite for season 3 next year. Zeta-Jones hasn’t seen the script yet, but she’s keen to learn more about Morticia’s relationship with her mother, played by Joanna Lumley, and how that will affect her relationship with Wednesday. Zeta-Jones said: “I hope Wednesday comes out of this next season.” “Enough is enough. I can’t demonize my mother anymore.”
