When Caitlyn Jenner reunited with her family for one last dinner at her former home, the atmosphere was a little strange.
On Thursday, Oct. 30’s episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris Jenner shocked her kids by inviting her ex-girlfriend to a farewell dinner at the Hidden Hills home she’s owned for 15 years.
“Your father and I bought this house many years ago, and I don’t think anyone should come here to say goodbye to this house,” said Chris, 69, as the family held hands and formed a circle before eating dinner. She said “it wouldn’t have been the same” if Caitlin, 76, hadn’t been there, and she went inside.
It’s clear that no one knew beforehand that Caitlyn would be attending, and there were some shocked faces when Kris continued, “She said she just bought this house for Kendall and Kylie and all of their kids to grow up in, and they were so excited to make so many special memories.”
“That’s true,” Caitlin said. This appearance marks Caitlyn’s first appearance on the Hulu reality series, which first aired in 2022 after Keeping Up with the Kardashians ended.
When it was announced that the Kardashians would not be returning, Caitlyn said in a post that she was “sad” that she wasn’t given the opportunity to continue on the show, but that she was “happy” for her family.

The episode revealed how the surprise came about, with Chris telling the camera: “I called Kaitlyn about an hour ago and said, ‘What are you doing?'” And of course, she said, “Eating dinner and watching Fox News.” I said, “Of course I do.” And I said, “Why don’t you come and say goodbye to El Dorado Meadow with the kids?” And she said, “I’m on my way now.” ”
“It makes sense that Kaitlyn would be here tonight, because she was actually a part of some great memories,” Chris said in a confessional. “It wasn’t just my home, it was our home.”
Most of the family looked shocked when Caitlin entered the house. Daughters Kylie and Kendall didn’t seem alarmed either. Caitlin seemed a little hesitant as she entered the house and gathered around the dining room table.
At one point, Caitlyn joked that she had bought a $13.5 million home that Kris put on the market in February, and while Kris, Kim, and Kourtney all seemed excited about the idea, Caitlyn revealed that she was just kidding and that she couldn’t afford the house.

In her confessional, Kendall, 29, got candid about her and Caitlyn’s current situation. “I definitely never expected my dad to be here. I just knew my mom and dad’s relationship. It’s not that it’s a bad thing, it’s just that it’s far away,” she said.
“My mom used to have a hard time inviting my dad to family gatherings, so I’m glad that Kylie and I don’t have to ask him to invite us anymore and that she thought it was a good idea.”
Kendall also admitted that she “has to compartmentalize my relationship with my dad.” Because even if her relationship with her father is “good,” “sometimes I get irritated with him about certain things because we have completely different views on things.”
“But other than that, I always want to include her. I know she doesn’t have much other than family, and I know she’s lonely… At the end of the day, it’s really nice to have her around.”
As Khloe, Rob, Corey Gamble and other family members sit down for dinner, Caitlyn and Kris have a casual conversation about the recent L.A. wildfires, and Caitlyn says she won’t abandon her home even if a fire approaches, and instead says she’ll defend the property herself, which Kris said he wasn’t surprised to hear.
In her confessional, Khloe praised her mother for the “growth” she showed by inviting Caitlyn over. “For years after the divorce, things weren’t great between them. Things were said to them. They weaponized some situations to make things seem untrue to my mom. And the fact that my mom was able to put all of that behind her or pause for a moment is really, really big on her.”
Chris and Caitlyn divorced in 2014 after 22 years of marriage, and Caitlyn came out as a transgender woman the following year.

After dinner, the family took one last photo together on the house’s iconic front porch, and Caitlyn joined in, but Kendall reminded her to put her phone away and smile for the photo. Several of the next generation members of the family, including Reign, Saint, True, Chicago, Dream, Psalm and Rocky, were also in attendance and posed for photos.
Caitlyn then returned to her Malibu home where she shared a brief hug with Kendall and Kylie, 28, before saying goodbye to Kim and Kris.
She and Chris hugged, and Chris thanked Caitlin for showing up on short notice, saying, “It was a really nice surprise for the kids,” to which Caitlin replied, “I owe you! No, I was just kidding.”
In his confessional, Chris summarized his feelings after the reunion as follows: “What an amazing night. We’re all so happy to be here and say goodbye to a home that has brought us so much blood, sweat, tears, highs and lows, so much joy and love. And Caitlyn was there for us. It’s been a really long journey, but it’s also Caitlyn’s home.”
