Brad Pitt has filed court documents again asking a judge to force his ex-wife Angelina Jolie to hand over her private emails in his long-running legal battle.
Pitt and Jolie have been fighting since February 2022 over the French winery Chateau Mirabell, which they purchased at the time of their marriage. In new court documents obtained by Page Six, Pitt and Jolie ask a judge to force Jolie to hand over emails with her business manager Terry Bird, her British publicists Chloe Dalton and Arminka Herrick, and two financial consultants.
The “F1” star said in the document that Jolie previously admitted in her own statement that she regularly spoke with Bird about “all aspects” of her business and professional life, including conversations about legal issues.
Jolie refused to hand over the email correspondence at Pitt’s request.
“[Jolie admitted]that Byrd ‘assisted[her]in identifying additional issues for which she should seek advice,'” the document states. “What Jolly is describing here are brainstorming sessions between non-lawyers. The fact that these brainstorming sessions may have followed or preceded advice from lawyers on the same general or related topics does not preclude their findings.”
“(Jolie) has yet to produce only one internal email that even mentions the terms of the sale that are at the heart of this lawsuit,” he said in the filing.
Pitt said the missing emails include communications from Bird “discussing the terms of the sale of an interest in Chateau Miraval to the Story parties, a key transaction at issue in this lawsuit.”
Pitt also asked the judge to deny Jolie’s request to pay him $33,000. The amount is the amount Jolie asked the court to pay in attorney’s fees to fight her original motion to turn over her personal email.
Jolie previously said she did not need to submit the email because it involved discussing a legal matter with another person.
The actress’ attorney, Paul Murphy, accused Pitt in a statement to Page Six of “violating her privileged communications with her attorney.”
“This lawsuit reaffirms Mr. Pitt’s longstanding efforts to harass and control Angelina,” Murphy said.
In the “Maleficent” star’s Oct. 9 court filing obtained by Page Six, her attorney explained why she was demanding Pitt pay her $33,000 in legal fees.
“Jolie, through her attorney, has repeatedly asked Pitt to withdraw (the allegations),” the attorneys said in a written statement. “She warned multiple times that if the court denied Pitt’s motion, Jolie would ask the court to order Pitt to pay Jolie’s attorney fees in opposition to the motion.”
The attorneys continued, “Pitt has still refused to withdraw the lawsuit. Therefore, Jolie is asking the court to order Pitt to repay the significant attorney fees incurred.”
Pitt is suing Jolie over her stake in a luxury property in France, alleging that she sold the stake to the Story Group’s wine division without permission. Jolie claimed that his permission was not needed.
