Fusion Entertainment has added writer/director Elliott Tuttle to its roster of management clients. The move follows the debut of Tuttle’s provocative feature debut Blue Film, which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival and was subsequently screened at Newfest.
“Blue Film” is a queer thriller starring Tony Award winners Reed Burney (“Mass,” “Succession”) and Kieron Moore (“Sex Education”). A con man named Aaron Eagle (Moore) follows the events of one night through his encounter with a customer (Barney) who turns out to have ties to his past.
Tuttle is a graduate of Occidental College and is based in Los Angeles. His narrative podcast “Lina’s Song” features Hari Nef and Dylan Gerula and is executive produced by Mark Duplass. “Blue Film” marks his directorial debut.
The film received rave reviews at the time of its release, although director Tuttle said it was too controversial for many major film festivals. Guy Lodge of Variety praised Barney and Moore’s work, writing that the film was “an unabashed provocation, but not an empty one.”
The film was written and directed by Tuttle and produced by Bijan Kazeroni, Will Youmans, Waylon Sole, and Fusion Entertainment founding partner Adam Kirsch. Duplass served as a consulting producer on the project. Blue Film is currently seeking distribution and will be sold by Submarine Entertainment.
“At Fusion, we are passionate about championing bold new voices that push independent film, especially queer storytelling, into uncharted territory. Elliott Tuttle is an extraordinary talent, fearless, provocative, and deeply human in his filmmaking. ‘Blue Film’ heralds the rise of an artist who is unafraid to take risks in pursuit of emotional truth,” said Kirsch.
