She finished this “circus”.
It Ends with Us author Colleen Huber had a scathing response when asked by Elle about the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively courtroom drama.
He noted that he was “completely unaware that anything was going on” because he was barely on set, and told the magazine that the situation was “unfortunate” and “unfortunate.”
“It feels like a circus,” she added during the interview, which ironically took place weeks before her deposition.
Director Hoover noted that the situation has “really affected the careers of some actors,” adding, “I just think it’s sad.”
The author, who also served as executive producer of the film version, added: “I’m just trying to stay away from the negativity. I have my own story to tell… but I don’t want to draw attention to it and I don’t want to have to put anyone down to uplift myself.”
“So I’d rather ignore it and let people think and say what they’re going to say,” she said. “Right now, this problem is so big that no one knows the actual truth, and no matter what people think about it, I feel like no one can say anything to change it, not even me.”
The New York Times bestselling author, 45, said she rather felt sorry for her mother, Vanoy Fitt, a domestic violence survivor and the inspiration for the story behind “It Ends With Us.”
“I get PTSD when I think about it now,” Huber confessed. “Just seeing the ugliness of this movie and feeling like she’s going through even more pain in the aftermath of this movie than she went through with her dad makes me feel so bad.”
Huber explained that the lawsuit has “cast a shadow over the book” and that “I can’t even recommend[the book]anymore.”
“I’m almost embarrassed to say I write. When people ask me what I do, I’m like, ‘I’m a writer. Don’t ask me what I write.'”
However, while she hopes her feelings will change over time, “[she]was so proud of that book, so it’s sad.”
“And I’m still proud of it, but I don’t talk about it very publicly. Maybe I need treatment, I don’t know,” she concluded.
Hoover made similar comments in a text message to Baldoni, according to documents obtained by People on Nov. 13.
“I knew things had gone horribly wrong and I felt forced to make a choice I didn’t want to make,” the “Verity” author reportedly wrote in a text message to Baldoni in 2024, which was included in a statement filed by Wayfarer co-defendants on Nov. 10.
“But the exchange of articles on both sides is truly infuriating and ridiculous. It makes everyone working on this movie look immature,” she allegedly continued, in part.
“Everyone is trying to save themselves and now it’s chaos.”
“And I know you guys think I made the decision for a specific reason, but I felt a rift long before I got in touch with Blake,” the alleged text continued.
The text, which Huber allegedly sent, condemned Baldoni’s “actions” and said, “I have been personally disappointed many times by your actions.
“I appreciate you haven’t said anything negative directly. That’s the way it should be. But you guys are adults with a platform and you know how to use it to protect your image. Please don’t continue to use it to hurt me or mine. That’s all I’m asking.”
The text was allegedly sent by Hoover to Baldoni in August 2024 to share with his public relations team.
In December 2024, the Gossip Girl alum sued Baldoni for sexual harassment and retaliation, seeking $160 million in emotional distress and other damages.
Baldoni, who denies wrongdoing, filed a $400 million countersuit in January against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and others. It was rejected by a judge in June.
After initially showing support for Lively, Hoover deactivated Instagram amid the ongoing drama.
Mr. Hoover returned to the stage in February, but the photo of Mr. Lively and Mr. Baldoni was removed.
