“Better Call Saul” star John Christian Love currently works as a delivery driver for Amazon.
The 35-year-old revealed his shocking career update last month in a Reddit thread for Amazon employees.
“As the actor who brought you the character of ‘Ernest/Ernie’ on ‘Better Call Saul,’ I want you to know that I’m here with you, too!” Love wrote.
“It sucks,” Love added. “But one delivery at a time. Be blessed!”
Love also shared a selfie of herself wearing an Amazon uniform and standing in a truck full of luggage.
When one Redditor asked if Love’s role in Better Call Saul “wasn’t good enough for her to continue acting,” Love revealed why she left Hollywood.
Love replied, “I’m not giving up. It’s just really slow right now,” adding that the hit AMC series “wasn’t the big hit I was expecting.”
Love also said that he had “done an important movie” with Lily Gladstone and Bryan Cranston but “ran out of money” and it “wasn’t paid”.
Lone Wolf, directed by Mark Pellington and starring Love, Gladstone, and Cranston, stopped filming in February 2025 due to financial issues.
In July of that year, Cranston told Deadline that he would not shoot or promote the film “until all cast and crew members are fully repaid.”
Elsewhere in the Reddit thread, Love reiterated that he is not satisfied with his job at Amazon.
“I’m tired of waiting for permission, so I’m thinking of starting my own project, but it’s really killing me, so I had to do something other than this,” he shared.
“I’ve been a mail carrier, a FedEx driver, a seasonal driver for UPS, etc., and they’ve all been good. They’ve all been terrible, don’t get me wrong, but they’ve been better than Amazon. Routes changed every day, vans were crap, no culture, no real benefits, high turnover, etc.”
Love added: “But my hope is that everyone can do what they want and don’t let anyone think they’re a 9-to-5 slave.”
Love played Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) friend Ernest on Better Call Saul, which aired for six seasons from 2015 to 2022.
The “Breaking Bad” prequel series has been nominated for an Emmy Award 53 times, but has never won.
Before “Better Call Saul,” Love played a football player in 13 episodes of “Friday Night Lights.” His other credits include the 2016 films “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” and “Independence Day: Resurgence.”
