Authorities searching for Nancy Guthrie are investigating new leads in grisly doorbell camera footage of her suspected kidnapper discovered last week.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC News on Tuesday that security clips may have revealed a pinky ring on the kidnapper’s hand under his glove.
“I’m looking at the same photo you’re looking at (of someone who appears to be fiddling with Guthrie’s camera), and I can see that,” the official told the outlet. “Understood.”
He added: “We’re going to give it to the team. They’ll look at it. They’ll analyze it and we’ll look at it. Maybe it’s (the ring).”
The possibility comes more than two weeks after Savannah Guthrie’s mother disappeared from her home in Tucson, Ariz., and comes amid a major blow to the case.
Authorities found a glove matching the one worn by the suspect two miles from the 84-year-old’s home, but the DNA on the glove did not match records in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database.
The glove was first tested in Florida and retested in Arizona, with no hits either time.
Nanos shared the disappointing news via X, revealing that “DNA found on the premises is being analyzed and further testing will need to be carried out as part of the investigation.”
Nanos clarified Friday that the DNA does not belong to anyone “close” to Nancy.
Savannah and the family members of the matriarch, including the “Today” show anchor siblings Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, were all released as suspects as of Monday.
Prior to the announcement, officials were “actively monitoring everyone.”
Nancy’s children have all complained about their mother’s captivity in Instagram videos since her disappearance.
The recent Daytime Emmy Award winner urged, “It’s never too late to do the right thing. … We believe in the inherent goodness of all human beings.”
Page Six heard that Savannah’s friends were “afraid” of her after “the light seemed to go out of her eyes” after seeing her “deeply disturbing” social media uploads.
One friend said: “She looks devastated. She looks like she’s in pain. There’s no way she’s going to make it.”
