Ariana Grande will return to Saturday Night Live as host for the third time on December 20th. Joined by musical guest Cher, this will be the first time she will take to the Studio 8H stage since her SNL debut in 1987.
Last week, on December 13, Josh O’Connor made his SNL hosting debut with Lily Allen, who was making her second appearance as a musical guest.
As previously announced, the December 6th episode will be facilitated by host Melissa McCarthy and musical guest Dijon.
Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee Grande stars in Wicked: For Good, which opens in theaters on November 21st. This will be her fifth appearance on Saturday Night Live, having previously served as host and musical guest in 2016 and as host twice in October 2024. She is known for her musical impressions on the show, and previously covered Cher’s hit “Believe” on Jimmy Fallon’s “That’s My.” jam. ” Cher is promoting her autobiography, “The Memoir.”
O’Connor stars in the new Knives Out trilogy, Wake Up Deadman, which will be released in limited theaters on November 26th and on Netflix on December 12th. Allen has just released her much-discussed fifth album, West End Girl.
McCarthy has been nominated for an Oscar twice and won an Emmy in 2017 for hosting “SNL.” This will be his sixth time serving as host, and his first appearance as host in over eight years. She recently made a cameo appearance in the “Parking Lot Riot” sketch alongside Martin Short. Dijon will be performing songs from her new album “Baby.”
