Andy Cohen says he got “physical” during a drunken and flirtatious night out with longtime friend John Mayer.
Speaking to Alex Cooper on Wednesday’s episode of “Call Her Daddy,” the Bravo honcho gave insight into their night out.
Cohen explained that they begin with dinner and “always sit on the same side of the booth” but don’t hold hands.
However, Cohen acknowledged that things got a little dangerous as the night progressed.
“Actually, we were at Sunset Tower last week and I got so physical with him at the end that he was like, ‘Andy,’ and I was like, I was using him to tell a story about a guy,” he recalled.
“We were in a puddle of laughter,” said the Emmy Award-winning producer. “We love each other deeply, we really do!”
When asked if he secretly loved Mayer, he simply replied: “No, we love each other.
“If I could find a gay man like him, it would be magical. But guess what? I’m so grateful for our love.”
Cohen, 57, and Mayer, 48, have been friends for more than a decade, and many have wondered if there was something romantic between them.
The “Watch What Happens Live” host was forced to address the topic in May 2024, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “Let me guess! I honestly love John Mayer and he loves me.
“But we’re so affectionate with each other that people don’t know what box to put it in. They think we’re sleeping with each other, but we’re definitely not.”
Mayer himself later criticized THR for the way it phrased the question: “People seem to be wondering whether a straight rock star could have an intimate platonic relationship with a gay TV personality.”
The “Gravity” singer privately emailed the outlet, saying he was “intrigued” by the question and calling the notions of a “straight rock star” and a “gay TV personality” a “questionable premise.”
“To suggest that people are questioning friendships like mine and Andy’s is to undermine the public’s ability to accept and understand diversity in all aspects of culture, whether in art or real life,” he criticized.
“I’d like to think they’re sophisticated enough to understand relationships like ours without thinking there must be a sexual element involved. That turns the idea of being gay into something mindlessly two-dimensional, but I think you know that’s not the case. I have no doubts about that at all.”
And he concluded: “If someone has doubts about platonic relationships between straight and gay people, I don’t think that shallow view deserves to be clarified by anyone with any self-respect, whether it’s Andy or your publication.
“It reinforces the idea that relationships between homosexuals and heterosexuals must be non-sexual, which undermines the dignity of all involved.”
In an interview with Cooper, Cohen revealed that he is single but is looking for love on dating apps.
Mayer is also known as a “ladies’ man” due to his long relationship history with famous women such as Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Most recently, he was in a relationship with Kat Stickler.
