Amy Poehler recalled with a laugh that her Boston roots came to light during an argument on a plane.
“I remember being on a plane with you,” Poehler’s “Saturday Night Live” co-star Anna Gasteyer recalled on an episode of Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast earlier this week.
“You got into a fight with a guy,” Gastia continued, noting that baby Francis, now 23, “was on the plane with us.”
“She was on a plane and I was still fighting with babies around me?” Poehler repeated incredulously.
“The man was furious that you swore in front of the baby,” Gasteyer admitted.
“It’s a long story, but one of the leading men, we were in first class, and he was like, ‘Excuse me, I’m trying to do that, but it’s too loud in first class,'” Poehler explained.
“My Boston is out, let’s just say that.” A bewildered Gasteyer called the mid-air collision “the best thing I’ve ever seen.”
Poehler married Arrested Development alumnus Will Arnett in 2003, and their divorce was finalized in 2016. The couple have two sons, Archie, 17, and Abel, 15.
Ms Gasteyer married her husband Charlie McKittrick in 1996, and the long-term couple had a son, Ulysses, together with Frances.
Gasteyer, 58, and the 54-year-old “Parks and Recreation” star famously appeared together on “Saturday Night Live” from 2001 to 2002.
The two also co-starred in Tina Fey’s iconic 2004 comedy Mean Girls, where Poehler memorably played the “cool mom” character of Rachel McAdam’s Regina George.
Meanwhile, Gasteyer played the mother of Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan.
In 2019, the comedy icons teamed up for Wine Country, starring Fey, Rachel Dratch, Emily Spivey, Maya Rudolph and Paula Pell.
While reflecting on their time together on “Saturday Night Live,” Poehler and Gasteyer both admitted they were “obsessed” with lifestyle guru Martha Stewart. Gasteyer is famous for his immaculate imitation.
“Martha, I’m not going to invite you on the show because I’m too scared, but listen, I want you to know that you’re something else,” Poehler said jokingly.
