All about Jasmine, Iyana and Amara

Martin Lawrence first rose to comedy fame in the 1990s, hosting HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, appearing on the series Bad Boys and Big Mama’s House, and starring in the original sitcom Martin. But off-screen, Lawrence plays the role of father to three adult daughters: Jasmine Page (29), Iyana Faith (25), and Amara Trinity (23).

Lawrence’s first daughter, Jasmine, was born in his first marriage to former Miss Virginia USA Patricia Southall. He has daughters Iyana and Amara with his second wife, TV personality and entrepreneur Shamika Gibbs, whom he married in 2010.

In 2021, Gibbs posted a touching Father’s Day tribute on Instagram, writing, “Our girls are so happy to have you as a dad. They get your fun, honesty, loyalty, and kindness from you.”

Jasmine, Iyana, and Amara attended the Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiere in Los Angeles in May 2024 with their father. Lawrence’s girlfriend, Angie Gonzalez, was also in attendance.

Jasmine Lawrence, 29 years old

Jasmine Page Lawrence was born on January 15, 1996 to Lawrence and his then-wife Southall.

She attended Duke University and graduated with honors in 2018. Her father celebrated the milestone on Instagram, writing, “Congratulations on the birth of your first child. I’m so proud of you, Jasmine. Keep doing what you do. I love you so much!”

Jasmine currently lives in Los Angeles and is following in her father’s footsteps and pursuing a career in acting. Her on-screen credits include “Bad Boys for Life,” a sequel to her father’s famous film, and the relatively well-known “Ranch Rules and Family Time.”

To commemorate her father’s birthday in 2022, Jasmine penned a heartfelt message about her childhood on Instagram. “Children whose parents are divorced sometimes feel like one parent is missing, but I’ve never felt that way. That’s proof that you’re a great person,” she wrote in part.

In November 2024, Jasmine and Eric Murphy, the son of famous comedian Eddie Murphy, got engaged after dating for over three years.

“We are engaged!! God has blessed us with a truly destined love and we couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter,” she wrote on Instagram following Eric’s romantic proposal.

Jasmine and Eric quietly married in May 2025 during an intimate church ceremony.

That same month, Eddie Murphy appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and said, “They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing.” “So I guess we’ll have a big party or something.”

Yanna Lawrence, 25 years old

In 1997, Lawrence broke up with Southall and began dating Gibbs. Three years later, on November 6, 2000, Gibbs gave birth to the couple’s first child, Iyana Faith Lawrence.

After graduating from high school in 2018, Iyana enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College in New York to study creative writing.

Gibbs posted a photo of himself and Lawrence dropping Yanna off at college, writing in the caption: “Today was one of the hardest days of my life. We left our baby girl @iyanna_faith at school to start a new chapter in her college life. Your dad @martinlawrence and I are so proud of the young woman you have become. We know you are in God’s hands.”

In addition to writing, Iyana is passionate about activism, as evidenced by her mother’s Instagram. In 2018, before her graduation, Iyana spoke on a panel at her high school about her experiences as a black student in a predominantly white school. Gibbs posted a video of her speech on Instagram, writing about how proud she was of her daughter. Earlier that year, Gibbs also posted a photo of Iyana attending the Women’s March in Los Angeles

Iyanna also has a close relationship with her soon-to-be stepmother, Moradfar. In 2020, Moradfar posted a sweet birthday tribute to Yanna on Instagram, writing, “My beauty @iyanna_faith, I celebrate you. I’m so happy to see you blossom into the most vibrant, warm, sincere and talented little woman lol! Your heart is pure – I wish you all the best this world can handle. I love you, Yanni Poo!!!”

Amara Lawrence, 23 years old

Lawrence and Gibbs’ second child, Amara Trinity Lawrence, was born on August 20, 2002. She graduated from high school in 2021, and at the graduation ceremony, she took a nice photo with her parents and younger sister.

The 23-year-old aspires to be a musician and songwriter. Over the past two years, Amara has shared two original songs on Soundcloud: “Long time” and “To Myself.” In 2019, Gibbs posted a video of her daughter singing with the caption, “Every time I hear our baby girl sing, I’m in awe.” Amara is also good at playing the guitar and her mother has posted various photos and videos of her playing over the years.

She also receives support from her father’s fiance. “I can’t wait to see where her talent takes her. Her passion for music is as great as her kind heart,” Moradfar wrote of her soon-to-be stepdaughter in a sweet birthday post.

In June 2020, Amara posted a tribute to Lawrence on her Instagram on Father’s Day, writing, “You (always) put your heart and soul into everything you did, even if it took longer than expected. I am so blessed to have been raised by a humble and loving man who always strives to do his best to ensure that we accomplish everything we set our minds to.”
