A+E Global Media has appointed Tegna Exec Brian Weiss executive vice president as Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the Global Content Sales Team.
With each release issued Monday by the company that announced Weiss’ appointment, Exec “shapes growth strategies and business development across linear, digital, fast and emerging platforms. Partnering with heads of A+E’s global content sales, fast and international teams to reject new ventures from A+E’s content library and distribution pipelines, build investment cases and devalue.”
Additionally, Weiss will be the company’s contact for finance, research and technology, leading the deployment of automation and AI, among other areas of innovation.
In his new role, Weiss reports directly to the global president of Global Content License and Steve McDonald’s International.
More recently, Weiss was Tegna’s Vice President of Entertainment Programming and Networking, overseeing channels such as True Crime Network, Quest and Twist, Vault Studios Originals Division, Tegna’s syndicated programming, and several OTT projects.
Previously, Weiss was president and general manager of Cooper Holdings and was part of the original management team that developed and launched Justice Network (2015) and Quest (2018) prior to the acquisition by Tegna.
“Brian brings a rare mix of contract-making savvy and sales depth to his new position,” McDonald said Monday. “He turns complex, multi-tiered contracts into durable partnerships, balancing stakeholder needs with a transparent data-driven approach, increasing storytelling, and increasing audiences and revenue.
