Dancing with the Stars Season 34 Premiere brings glamour and charm back to the ballroom!
For night 1, the contestants were asked to dance to the national anthem. The star brought the A-Game to the ABC dance competition, but only one contestant got a seal of approval from Beyoncé, while another finds that he takes more than just a just-dance move to reach the Mirror Ball Trophy.
With Carrie Anne Inaba under the weather, judges Derek Huff and Bruno Toniori were left to their devices, leading to unexpected and hilarious moments.

Beest (Gymnastic) moves with a seal of approval from Beyoncé
Olympic gymnast and gold medalist Jordan Chile took him to the dance floor alongside his partner Ezra Sosa for a performance to “break my soul.”
Derek was impressed with “Flips and Tricks” in “Beyonce Flair.”
When asked what the music superstar was thinking about the performance, Jordan said, “She was probably very proud.”
“I’m honored to be able to dance to her (the music), and I was able to clear that because she’s someone I really admire,” she said of using Beyoncé’s songs.
She also praised her partner Ezra, saying, “Ezra is so amazing and I can give him this opportunity and make him dance again. I think that’s the biggest thing.
The best return to the parent trap
Elaine Hendrix nodded at the iconic The Parent Trap moment.
The actress, 54, brought unforgettable handshakes to Kesha’s “women” during her chacha. She also began her performance with another nod to the film – lifting up her wide, charming black hat.
Of course, parent trap fans will remember over the top handshakes between twin sisters Annie and Harry (both played by Lindsay Lohan) and Butler Martin (Simon Kunz).
After the dance, Elaine taught her handshakes from the film and co-hosted Julian Huff.
Worst Scoring Flub
Whitney Leavitt scored the wrong score following the performance of the K-Pop Demon Hunters’ tango.
Bruno initially gave her a 7, bringing Whitney’s score to 14/20. However, Julian revealed that her score is actually 15/20, as Bruno actually gave her a 8 to her dance and increased her score by one point.
The high score came after Bruno praised her with her routine, calling it “elegant” and praised her content included in the dance. “There’s no tinkering. Very, very, very, very high quality!” he said.
Oops: More points at the judges’ table
Derek and Bruno made several gaffes all night as Judge Carrie Anne was not present at the show’s taping.
Following the NBA All-Star Baron Davis dance to the dance, followed by MC Hammer’s “Can’t This This”, Bruno struggled to find it behind the table before making a scorecard too early. Julian asked, “Bruno, what’s going on there?”
After Boy played by world alumni Daniel Fishel, Derek joked by texting over the phone. “Oh, I was voting. Sorry,” Bruno almost fell out of his chair after being given a score before giving her dance to the six.
Julianne called it “chaos” on a panel of judges, and Alfonso Ribeiro joked.
The best peacock
Comedian Andy Richter revealed that he has his own plan to win the mirror ball.
Before his first dance with partner Emma Slater, he said, “I don’t think I’ll be the best dancer here, but I don’t mind peacocking because I know how important it is to sell it.”
His plan worked because Sam and Dave brought joy to the dance floor with a chacha to “hold on, I’m coming.”
Bruno praised his efforts, calling him “sakky and chappie,” while Derek added “everyone in this room cheers for you,” and praised the humor “Joy” and “Authenticity.”
He concluded, “I loved watching you dance, I really did it.”

Dancing with the Stars will air Tuesday at 8pm on ABC and simultaneously on Disney+. The show will be streamed on Hulu the next day.
