Ice Cube says he shot the “World War” scene in 15 days

Ice Cube sheds some light on the turbulent production of “War of the Worlds.”

In a recent interview with Kai Cenat, the “Friday” star said the remake of the virus’ “War of the Worlds” was filmed during Covid Pandemic in 2020, with his scenes completed in 15 days without a director or co-star.

“(‘War of the Worlds’) was a film I made during the pandemic in 2020,” recalls Ice Cube. “We filmed in 15 days, and we were in a pandemic. The director wasn’t there. None of the actors were there. This was the only way we could really shoot a film.”

Ice Cube explained that it took a lot of time to release because the film was originally filmed by Universal. Obtaining the remaining footage outside the Ice Cube scene also contributed to the delay.

“All footage comes from real surveillance cameras around the world,” he added. “So they had to build all that shit (and they collected and edited the footage).”

“War of the Worlds” adapted gently from a sci-fi novel of the same name by HG Wells, and soon became a viral sensation after the trailer debuted in late July. When released on July 30th, the film was critically panned and easily held a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s currently only 4%.

Ice Cube appears in “War of the Worlds” as William Radford, a computer security analyst who was thrown into the heart of a global catastrophe when aliens invade Earth. Other cast members include Eva Longoria, Imanbenson, Henry Hunter Hall, Clark Greg and Devon Bostic.
