Monica Dolan (“Sherwood”, “Mr. Bates vs. Post Office”) will lead the cast of the Irish special “The Lost Children of Duam”, directed by Frank Berry (“Aisha”, “Michael Inside”). Liam Neeson is one of the producers.

This film – currently filming – comes from Powerhouse Production House Element Pictures (“Poor Things”, “Bugonia”) alongside BBC film and Screen Ireland. MK2 handles international sales.

Based on Dan Barry’s New York Times article “The Lost Children of Tuam,” published in 2017, the film focuses on history enthusiast Katherine Corres (Dolan). The findings united a campaign for justice for both the victims of the home and the survivors. Excavations of mass graves began in the summer of 2025. Along with Dolan, the cast also includes Andrew Bennett (“The Creature of God”, “The Quiet Girl”) and Ian McElhinney (“Game of Thrones”, “The Delhi Girls”).

“It’s a great honor for me to have a crew of dedicated, professional and well-known films making this film. This follows my difficult journey when I first discovered what actually happened with Tuam and the struggle I faced to uncover this truth against so many obstacles,” Corless said. “It’s amazing. I’m grateful that Frank Berry and his team have observed the passion that ensures that the truth about what happened is of the utmost importance, and that it is the essence of my long journey.

The film has been featured by BBC Films and Screen Ireland in conjunction with Fremantle, Coimisiún Na Meán, MK2 and RTé. MK2 is available for worldwide sales, while Volta Pictures Distribution releases films in Ireland and the UK. Neeson, who has chosen to rights to the New York Times article, will be produced for the El Paso films and alongside Big Red films Jules Daly, Chelsea Morgan Hoffman, Ed Guinee, Edrew Lowe and Port Pictures’ Martina Neeland. Executive producers are Christine Irving from BBC films, Niam Fagan from Screen Ireland, and Christian Vesper from Fremantle.

“Tuam’s story is very important and today it resonates very much in the child’s terms, who is considered worthy of care, who isn’t. “It shows what one person can do in terms of action, and Katherine Cores’ determination and passion are inspiration.”
