“Power: Origins” finds a ghost and Tommy.
Spence Moore and Charlie Mann perform their respective characters in the Starz Prequel series, embodying the younger version of the characters played by Omali Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the “Power” franchise.
“Origins” received an order for 18 episodes on Starz. The spinoff also featured Starmekai Curtis, “Powerbook III: Raising Canaan,” which changed the role of Canaan Stark.
The first season of “Origins” is described by Starz as “a fun, wild quest for a new period of the “power” franchise.”
Sascha Penn (“Power Book III: Raising Kanan”) will serve as the showrunner, writer and executive producer of “Origins” which comes from Lionsgate TV. “We are excited to continue exploring the story of the origins of the father’s founding of the ‘power’ universe,” Penn said in a statement. “The Ghost and Tommy backstory has fueled constant appeal and speculation among fans over the years. We are excited to answer questions over the years and share a new layer of stories that our audience doesn’t think will come.”
“Origins” is the fourth spinoff of the “Power” universe and will be participating in the original series “Powerbook II: Ghost”, “Powerbook III: Raising Canaan” and “Powerbook IV: Force.”
“Power” creator and original showrunner Courtney A. Kemp will serve as a pilot’s co-writer and executive production will also function through the end of the executive episode. Other EPS include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson via his G-Unit Films and TV, and Canton Entertainment via Mark Canton. Chris Serak and Pete Chatmon are also executive producers.
