Holding a Viking helmet and sword, Universal Pictures’ live-action “How to Train a Dragon” can be streamed on Peacock from October 10th. The animated film trilogy will also be released on October 1st.

The film is a live-action remake of the 2010 animated film and the adaptation of Cressida Cowell’s children’s book series, following the horrifying Haddock III of Hiccup, a young Viking who lives on Bike Island. After being considered an outcast by a fellow teenage Viking, Hiccup invented a device for catching dragons. After catching Hiccup, he finds himself in face to face with a dragon named Toothless, and their growing friendship and trust begin to change how humans and dragons can coexist.

“How to Train a Dragon” stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Nick Frost, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Julian Dennison, Harry Trevaldwin, Ruth Cod and Andrea Ware. The film was written and directed by Dean DeBrois, who directed the previously animated adaptation. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel were film producers along with DreamWorks Animation.

Over the opening weekend, the film debuted at the box office with $84.6 million. Variety’s chief film critic Peter DeBrag gave the film a positive review, saying that he praised Thames and Parker’s performances as Hiccup and Astrid, saying that “vision helps you take it step by step into reality” by director Dean DeBrois.

The sequel is already in development and is scheduled to be released on June 11th, 2027.
