Jamie Lee Curtis looks back on her close encounter with the late Princess Diana.
The 66-year-old actress revealed in an Instagram post on Sunday, August 31 that Princess Diana “almost met” on the film set in 1997.
She shared a photo of Princess Diana in her arms and stretched out to her young sons Prince William and Harry, Curtis wrote, “She visited a set of follow-ups of a fish called Wanda, a fierce creature, and was filming in Pinewood (studio 20 miles west of London)…”
During the break she explained that she “hop on a golf cart and go back to the dressing room to use the toilet,” while Princess Diana arrived on the set with her sons.
“My driver said he had arrived with his sons and started knocking on the door. I jumped into my golf cart.

The strange Friday star said she sent Diana a letter to Kensington Palace the next day, explaining “Why I wasn’t there and how much I admired her.” And to her surprise, she received a letter from the princess the next day.
“(She) thanked me for writing and understanding that nature always happened to her and that she was looking forward to meetings. She passed away two months later,” Curtis recalls. “I’ve just returned from the UK. I remember seeing the news…”
Princess Diana passed away at age 36 in a catastrophic car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997, along with her partner Dodi Fade and driver Henri Paul.

Curtis said he grabbed a book about “Insight Meditation” after hearing the news of Diana’s death and talked about “people who tried to lead mindful lives at the time of their death.”
“I immediately thought about what I had learned to live wisely with Princess Diana. She spoke about her personal issues and showed courage and compassion…” The star continued with the late Royal.
“And I think we all remember the image of her as our sons ran towards her and stretched out her arms,” Curtis said.
The Oscar-winning actress concluded that “I am still moved by her grace and courage.”
