Sheryl Burke has published Mea culpa to share insensible social media posts about the heels of deadly school shootings in Minnesota.
“I want to admit that it’s very important. I posted a transition video with a gun sound just over an hour ago,” and the “Dancing with the Stars” alum began with a lengthy post shared on Thursday, but was written on Wednesday.
“At the time, I was totally unaware of the horrifying school shootings in Minneapolis today at Catholic schools.
Burke, 41, appeared to have swiped the video very quickly from her account, so there are no traces left on the internet.
The professional dancer has made it clear that her defeating the Post would not “eliminate the reality” that tragedy could have caused “the pain, discomfort and even retaliation for those affected.
“That’s why I’m deeply sorry,” she continued. “Not intent, I never want to feel careless or disconnected from the world we live in. I take full responsibility for what I put into the world.
Burke continued to spread his prayers to the victims and families of those killed in the shooting.
On Wednesday, Robin Westman killed at least two children and injured 17 people at a Catholic school in Minneapolis while swinging a rifle, shotgun and pistol. The shooter then died from a self-harmed gunshot wound located behind the church.
In her message, Burke realized that “words cannot revoke harm,” but she said she hopes that her posts will “be clarified” that they will “take responsibility and move forward with more awareness.”
She reiterated in the caption. “I’m deeply sorry for the previous post. I didn’t notice the tragic school shooting in Minneapolis today, so I removed it.
Fans in the comments section appear to be accepting Burke’s apology.
Another said, “When you posted, you didn’t know about the tragedy. It could have happened to any of us. Don’t feel guilty about the post.”
