John Quinn, come down! You are the next showrunner for “Price is right!”
Variety has learned that game show veteran Quinn will take over the long-running top spot in the Fremantle CBS series. Quinn will take over a showrunning mission from Evelyn Worfell, who became the showrunner of the series in 2019. Warfel was the first woman to lead “The Right Price” in her history over 50 years.
“John brings us dynamic energy, incredible creativity and a collaborative spirit that enhances every production he touches,” said Jennifer Mullin, CEO of Fremantle. “Combined with his unusual ability to adapt to the times while celebrating tradition, he makes this iconic television mainstay an ideal choice to advance.”
Quinn was previously named a showrunner for “Let’s Make A Deal” in 2019 and will continue his role with a new mission on “The Price Is Right.” That same year he was named a showrunner for “Press Your Luck” and served as the showrunner for the first two seasons of “Password.” He is currently in production for Season 54 of “The Price Is Right,” which is scheduled to be released on CBS in September.
“It’s a show we all saw when we got sick from summer holidays and from school,” Quinn said. “This show is the main reason I’m working on a game show first, so being part of it now is an honor to be a part of it. I’m grateful and still pinching myself.
In his new role, Quinn is expected to bring episodes of various themes into the series, including breast cancer awareness, Valentine’s Day, Pet Adoption Week, Mother’s Day, and school outings. The season premiere marks the first new addition to the game lineup since 2021, and introduces a brand new game.
