David Bittler will end Nickelodeon in 25 years

Veteran Nickelodeon Communications Executive David Vittler has helped shape the brand’s image with the industry and consumers, resigning 25 years later at Kidvid Powerhouse.

Bittler confirmed his departure as Vice President of Communications at Paramount Global after Skydance Media acquired the parent company of Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, CBS and other television assets. Nickelodeon will be managed under an expanded television unit led by CBS Chief George Teak as part of the company’s post-sale restructuring.

Vittler showed his painful sense of humor in the subject of his exit note: “I was dreaming when I wrote this.” This was the year before Vittler joined Nickelodeon in New York after working for CNN and CNBC’s TV News Communications.

“For many years, the company has been a big tent party on and off the screen, welcoming fresh directions and new ideas from all sides.

“But you already know this. That’s the draw. That keeps us coming back every year, every year. It’s part of these teams, part of this creativity bounty, part of that. We’ve been promoted and protected for a long time,” he writes.

Bittler contributed to the promotion and marketing strategy as the highest rated cable channel in the 2000s and 2010 heyday. He was a key player who helped launch the variety 10 animators to see the franchise that recently marked the 11th edition.

Earlier in his time at Paramount Global’s predecessor Viacom, Bittler piloted the PR and communications of Nickelodeon’s brother Cablers Nick of Nite, Logo and Spike TV.

Here is Bittler’s complete note:

Hello, all beautiful people!

For those who remember, it was the opening line of the Missive MTV Network era of many speeches and emails that have been delivered to us, and I use it today humbly and use it to inform you of the departure from these renowned halls of 1515 Broadway.

For many years, the company has been a big tent party on and off the screen, welcoming fresh directions and new ideas, and from every path in life. We worked together to impress the world repeatedly with a wealth of groundbreaking characters, shows, experiences and moments.

But you already know this. That’s a draw. That’s Pull. That’s why we come back every day and every year. It’s part of these teams, and part of this bounty of creativity.

And today we find ourselves at another era of evolution and an exciting inflection point, but this is the turn on the road where I have to loosen the York and from this amazing pack of people, and from the shows I have been promoting, promoting and promoting for a long time. All TMNTs under the sun.

There were many great wins, countless challenges. For me, that’s how time passed. I was able to take a pro forma route here and list all the things I’m most proud of, but it’s already on LinkedIn. Follow me!

So instead of telling you what I did, I will tell you why. I did it for the audience. We did it for our people and for our brand. But more than anything, I did it for love.

Ciao, for now!
David
