Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee on suspicion of driving under the influence (OWI), Page Six has confirmed.
The former NFL star was booked that same evening and released shortly thereafter, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Page Six.
Romo, 46, was traveling southbound on Interstate 43 when he was stopped at a high-rise bridge.
He was taken into custody after performing poorly on a standard field sobriety test, according to FOX6 News.
Romo is scheduled to appear in court on September 21, the newspaper said.
Page Six has reached out to Romo’s representatives for comment.
A first-time OWI charge in Wisconsin is generally considered a civil offense and typically carries a fine of $150 to $300.
This is Romo’s first arrest.
He played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 2006 to 2016 and set multiple records, including a career-high 248 touchdown passes.
However, Romo has never won a Super Bowl in his 14-year NFL career.
He retired from football in April 2017.
During a recent appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, Romo admitted that his only regret in his career was not being able to bring home a Super Bowl trophy for Cowboys fans.
“That always sticks with me a little bit because you’re giving your whole body, your heart, your soul, everything,” he said.
After retiring, Romo began working for CBS Sports and currently serves as the network’s lead NFL game color analyst.
As for his personal life, Romo famously dated Jessica Simpson for about two years during his time with the Cowboys.
Since 2011, Romo has been married to former Missouri USA Candice Crawford.
The couple has three sons, Hawkins (14), Rivers (12), and Jones McCoy (8).
