Crawlers, take note: Queen Ann Chok has been spotted in Seth MacFarlane’s live-action TV series “Dungeon Crawler Carl.”
Jeff Hayes, the narrator and producer of all eight of the currently released Dungeon Crawler Carl books, has been cast as the voice of Princess Donut in the Peacock TV adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s best-selling LitRPG novel.
For those who haven’t gotten into the crawl yet, Donut is a talking tiara-wearing cat owned by the titular Carl’s ex-girlfriend, Beatrice. When an alien attack forces Carl and the survivors of the subterranean race into a televised race for freedom, Carl teams up with Donut as a partner in a dangerous game show.
Hayes is best known to fans as the voice of Donut and all other “DCC” characters in the audiobook version. His addition to the “Dungeon Crawler Carl” television series, announced Thursday at Penguin Random House’s “Spotlight on Matt Dinniman” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, marks the first casting news since the show was ordered to series at Peacock last month. (Although actor Seth Green has already joined in by publicly throwing his hat into the dungeon.)
The series will be led by Chris Yost as writer and showrunner. Yost will serve as an executive producer on Fuzzy Doors alongside MacFarlane, Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Held. Dinniman is co-executive producer. This adaptation is by Universal Global Television.
The official logline for the “Dungeon Crawler Carl” TV series is as follows: “An alien invasion wipes out most of humanity and the survivors are forced to fight for their lives in a sadistic intergalactic game show. Bad, right? Now try doing it with a barefoot, stuck-up, self-centered, tiara-wearing talking cat as your partner. Dinniman’s “Dungeon Crawler Carl” series consists of eight of the ten novels currently planned and has sold more than 14 million copies in all formats. More than 140 million hours of Hayes-narrated series have been listened to on Audible.
