Kaylee Hottle’s tragic death was an accident, Page Six has confirmed.
The cause was multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Maryland Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Frederick County, Maryland, Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the “Godzilla vs. Kong” actress was one of the two passengers in a car involved in a fatal crash Tuesday morning, according to the US Sun.
As Page Six previously reported, the deaf actress’ father, Joshua Hottle, shared the tragedy with TMZ on Tuesday after posting a tearful livestream on Facebook.
He explained on ASL that while in Texas, he received a call from authorities in Maryland about the crash, and then received a follow-up call on the way to the hospital saying his daughter’s heart had stopped.
He told TMZ he plans to fly to Maryland to retrieve the boy’s body.
Kaylee’s mother, Ketsi Hottle, also paid a shocking tribute on Tuesday in a tearful Instagram video caption, calling it a “privilege” to be the mother of 18-year-old Kaylee after her daughter’s death.
Page Six later confirmed that the driver of the car Cayley was riding in died at 3 a.m. Tuesday after “veering off the road and crashing into a ditch.”
Police said the 19-year-old was driving a 1995 Honda Accord when the vehicle “veered off the right side of a two-lane roadway and struck a culvert.”
The police statement continued: “Excessive speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the collision.”
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Cayley was taken to a local trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Kaley was born in Georgia, but grew up in Austin, attended the Texas School for the Deaf, and began her acting career at the age of nine.
Her breakout role was as Zia in the 2021 Adam Wingard-directed film Godzilla vs. Kong, co-starring Rebecca Hall, who played Dr. Eileen Andrews.
She also returned for the 2021 sequel Godzilla X Kong: New Empire.
Millie Bobby Brown, Kaley’s Godzilla vs. Kong co-star, said she was “devastated” by Kaley’s passing.
“We will miss you so much,” Brown wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of Kaley starring in the 2021 film.
