Anna Konkle, Tegen Burns, Tori Kittles, Brianna Reed, J.J. Nolan and Paul Scheer have been cast in Netflix’s new comedy series I Suck at Girls.
Konkle and Burns will both become series regulars, while Kittles, Reed, Nolan, and Shea will have recurring roles. They join previously announced cast members Kayo Martin, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Lyla Pruitt.
The official logline for “I Suck at Girls” reads, “Three awkward high school sophomores stumble through the messy world of teenage love and identity, learning that liking girls is just part of growing up.” The series is based on Justin Halpern’s autobiography of the same name.
Konkle is best known for starring in and co-producing Hulu’s “Pen15.” The coming-of-age comedy series ran for two seasons from 2019 to 2021 and was nominated for four Emmy Awards. Her other recent television credits include “Mating Season,” “Hacks,” “Murderbot” and “Side Quest.”
Burns recently starred in the Blumhouse horror film “Imaginary.” On the television side, her credits include “Blue Ridge: The Series,” “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” “Monarch” and “The Right Stuff.”
Trent O’Donnell is set to direct episode one, and Halpern co-wrote and co-showruns “I Suck at Girls” with Patrick Schumacher. The two will also serve as executive producers for Delicious Non-Sexual Productions. Other executive producers include Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Lisa Katzer of Doozer Productions, and Chet Dave of Delicious Non-Sectional Productions.
Netflix will serve as producer. Warner Bros. Television is serving as the studio, with Halpern and Schumacher’s Delicious Non-Sexual Productions and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions having an overall deal.
