In a bold new social media post, Spencer Pratt claimed “Lilo & Stitch” star Davey Chase died because he wasn’t forced into rehab.
“This poor beautiful girl died because there was no one to drag her to rehab against her will,” Pratt wrote via X on Saturday, in response to the Post’s June 17 headline, “Horrifying video shows ‘Lilo & Stitch’ actress Davey Chase languishing on Skid Row months before her death.”
In the comment thread, fans echoed the former Los Angeles mayoral candidate’s sentiments.
“How sad,” one person wrote, while another said: “It’s a shame no one came forward to try to get this girl into rehab. It’s a shame no one came forward to get her off the streets. It’s a shame no one came forward to love her and help her rebuild her life.”
Others slammed the entertainment industry, with one saying: “Hollywood in a nutshell. Used, abused and left for dead on the streets for a lifetime.”
The social media post came a day after the “Ring” star’s June 16 death was determined to be due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s report obtained by Page Six on Monday.
Chronic use of multiple substances has also been cited as a contributing factor, and the manner of death has been determined to be natural.
The “Spirited Away” actress suffered from multiple “serious” blood infections before her death and was diagnosed with a combination of sepsis and meningitis, her alleged boyfriend Roy Hernandez said at the time.
According to TMZ, the actress was admitted to a local hospital in early June due to malnutrition.
The former child actor was 35 years old.
Hernandez started a fundraiser before Chase’s death, claiming he wanted to help her find “peace” in her final days. He then claimed to TMZ that he intended to use the funds to give her a “suitable memorial.”
But her former longtime manager, John Ryan, later told the Post that “neither our friends nor her family” had ever heard of Hernandez, and claimed that “I can confirm that Davey has set up a trust account with SAG” to cover all expenses related to her death.
Ryan also claimed that the actress was “too far gone” addicted to drugs such as fentanyl and heroin to claim the millions of dollars in residual money she earned.
Footage obtained by the Post earlier this month showed her lying on the floor of a trailer or tent on Los Angeles’ Skid Row, looking shockingly thin and almost unconscious.
Ryan said at the time that he and Gaia Brown, a private investigator and Chase’s sister-in-law, had been searching for the actress for several months before seeing the video late last year.
Before narrowly losing the Los Angeles mayoral race to opponents Karen Bass and Nithya Raman earlier this month, the reality star repeatedly criticized Los Angeles’ handling of the homeless crisis.
“You can’t quit these drugs in bed,” Pratt, 42, told CNN in an interview last month.
“We need support. We need real solutions,” he continued. “So what’s going on? We’ve been doing it for 10 years now. Their plan doesn’t work. Their experience is a complete failure. This isn’t Spencer saying this. This is all the people with eyes driving around Los Angeles.”
