Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-husband Tate Paul has filed for a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife in a Utah court, reportedly seeking sole custody of their shared children.
The “Mormon Wives” star’s ex-husband filed the complaint today in his 2022 divorce case, according to documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday.
According to the outlet, Tate, who has two children, Indy, 8, and Ocean, 6, with the reality star, submitted a declaration along with a request form and several exhibits. However, the filing is sealed and further details are not available.
Sources at the outlet also claimed Tuesday that Tate is seeking sole custody of Indy and Ocean.
A source close to the “Bachelorette” talent claimed to TMZ that filing the restraining order was a “direct result” of ex Dakota Mortensen “lying to Tate about her.”
“She feels Dakota would do anything to hurt her…including using her children, but she survived,” the outlet reported.
Also on Tuesday, a source told People that Taylor had “checked into the facility at the recommendation of a doctor” and that it was a “voluntary” stay.
They added that the reality star is “committed to getting better.”
Another source said, “People around Taylor are asking for her help,” and that her inner circle “wants to see her get better.” They added: “Everyone is just trying to protect children.” According to the media, she has since left the facility. TMZ first reported that Taylor had temporarily entered a rehab facility.
Representatives for Taylor did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment Tuesday night. Representatives for Mr. Tate and Mr. Mortensen did not return requests for comment from Page Six.
Page Six reported on Tuesday that Mortensen, who has son Ever, 2, with Taylor, recently called the Bluffdale Police Department in Utah about his protective order against the TV personality.
The department confirmed to Us Weekly on Monday that it received a call from Mortensen seeking clarification on the protective order and said it also spoke with Taylor before forwarding the information to the district attorney’s office to determine whether a violation had occurred.
According to TMZ, the issue was who could be involved in setting up an exchange for young children and whether a protective order had been violated.
The matter is currently unresolved, with a source telling Page Six on Tuesday that “Taylor and Dakota have not met or spoken since the protective order was issued.”
Taylor, 32, previously lashed out at her ex-girlfriend in a now-deleted Instagram Story, writing: “Cops called again this week…what are the odds?”
According to TMZ, she added, “And it’s not a person… It’s a human being, the same human being. It’s obsessive.”
Paul and Mortensen, who rose to fame on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and began dating in 2022, are facing a series of allegations of domestic violence between them and a bitter custody battle over Ever.
Multiple police investigations have been launched into Taylor and Mortensen, and the drama between the former lovers came to a head in March when it was revealed that Taylor was seen engaging in what appeared to be a violent altercation with Mortensen, with their daughter Indi nearby.
Amid the drama, ABC canceled Taylor’s unreleased season of “The Bachelorette,” which had already finished filming and was scheduled to debut on March 22.
Mortensen was subsequently granted sole custody of Ever. Taylor was granted supervised visitation with her youngest son in April.
On April 30, the former couple were ordered to stay 100 feet apart from each other under a dual protection order, with a judge telling them they “must figure out how to function as co-parents.”
Prior to her romance with Mortensen, Taylor was married to Tate from 2016 to 2022.
Tate has since moved on, having a child with his current wife, esthetician Bailey Roberts-Paul.
