Nicoloden is celebrating SpongeBob’s birthday in a big way. Nickelodeon has officially declared July 14th as “SpongeBob Day.” This aims to be an annual celebration that coincides with the birthdays of beloved characters from the show’s world.
The internationally recognized children’s programming brand has prepared a number of celebrations for this day. SpongeBob voice actor Tom Kenny will host a TikTok Live starting July 14th at 6pm ET, which will include behind-the-scenes commentary, three never-before-seen alternate endings to the classic episode “Shanghai,” a first look at upcoming specials, the reveal of a new exclusive toy, and more.
The fan-favorite episode will air July 14 at 2pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon, as well as an all-day marathon on NickToons and Nick Pluto, and a SpongeBob SquarePants takeover on Nick.com.
In addition, Patrick Star’s official YouTube channel will also launch on the same day, featuring clips, shorts, compilations and live streams from both The Patrick Star Show and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Roblox is also getting in on the fun. SpongeBob SquarePants Tower Defense, already a top performer on the platform, will drop new in-game content in time for SpongeBob SquarePants Day. This extended the game’s weekly updates to more than 70 consecutive weeks, with peak concurrent users exceeding 200,000.
‘The Patrick Star Show’ will begin releasing its first-ever music across all streaming platforms, starting with ‘Watch Out for That Lake’ on July 9th. Pre-orders for the full album “Patrick Star Superstar” will begin on July 14th.
“SpongeBob Day” will also be recognized at Nickelodeon hotels and attractions, including Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, and Nickelodeon Universe theme parks at Mall of America and American Dream.
Global markets including Asia, Latin America, Germany and the UK will celebrate across linear, streaming, digital, social and consumer marketing with localized programming stunts, custom content and region-specific campaigns throughout the month of July. The “SpongeBob SquarePants”-inspired activation will be available at the New Children’s Museum in downtown San Diego starting July 11 in advance of Comic-Con.
First released in 1999, “SpongeBob SquarePants” has proven to be one of the most enduring cornerstones of Nickelodeon programming. Created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon, the show aired over 300 episodes and led to multiple spinoff series and movies. The latest film, The SpongeBob Movie: Find Squarepants, was released in theaters in December 2025.
