Blue Ivy Carter looked exactly like her mother, Beyoncé, as she stood by Jay-Z in New York City on Thursday.
Arriving at her father’s Reasonable Doubt Jay-Z30 pop-up event in the city that never sleeps as a date for the night’s performers, Blue kept it casual when it came to her outfit choices.
Wearing a Fear of God Jay-Z hoodie and light-wash Jaded London jeans, the 14-year-old wore her hair pulled back in a high braid, reminiscent of one of Beyoncé’s most iconic looks.
The long braids boasted an ombre tone, changing from dark brunette to platinum blonde by the time they reached her waist.
Blue accessorized with a few stacked rings and wore thick-framed glasses.
Beyoncé is known for sporting this powerful hairstyle on a variety of occasions, from the red carpet to the stage, and she’s also famous for swinging it around during her performances, almost like a prop or part of the choreography.
Fans were quick to note the similarities, with one tweeting: “I got it from my mama! Blue Ivy and Beyoncé in braids,” while another replied: “Twinsy.”
Meanwhile, Jay-Z kept his attire modest in a white T-shirt and jeans for the occasion, celebrating his 30th anniversary in the industry.
His dreadlock-less hair came about after Beyoncé posted a documentary-style video about her style on Father’s Day. The mother of three revealed that Blue actually inspired her father to go natural.
“My daughter was about 5 years old and she didn’t have a lot of confidence in her hair at the time,” Beyoncé says in a voiceover, adding, “That inspired Jay to grow his hair out.”
She continued, “We wanted her to love and embrace every inch of her gorgeous curls.”
