Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire has been arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, Page Six has confirmed.
Zaire, 24, was taken into custody Sunday at the Burbank, California Police Department. A few hours later, he was released on $50,000 bail.
He is currently charged with three counts of Felony Domestic Violence, Criminal Intimidation, and False Imprisonment. An emergency protection order was also issued.
Representatives for the retired NBA star and the Burbank Police Department did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
According to local broadcaster NBC4 Los Angeles, police responded to a 911 call about a woman screaming around 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
When police arrived, they found Zaire and a woman with lacerations to her face and body.
Paramedics were called to check on the woman, whose name has not yet been released, but she was not taken to hospital.
Authorities also removed the handgun from his home after his arrest.
The case was turned over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
Zaire is known for his famous family, having built a career as a professional basketball player, just like his NBA Hall of Famer father.
He played one season with the G League’s Salt Lake City Stars, then played several seasons in South Africa and Macau.
In high school, he played at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California. The school has become a high-profile school where professional athletes like LeBron James and Scottie Pippen send their children. He then transferred to Brewster Academy, a boarding school in New Hampshire.
Zaire received several scholarship offers while in high school, but turned them down in order to turn pro.
