Lizzy Caplan has joined the cast of FX’s upcoming TV series Far Cry, Variety reports.
The series was first reported to be founded by creators Noah Hawley and Rob Mack on FX in November 2025, with Mack also set to star. Exact plot and character details are still under wraps, but the series will follow an anthology format similar to the Far Cry video game, with each season featuring a different cast and setting.
Caplan is no stranger to FX, most recently starring in the limited series Fleishman Is In Trouble for Basic Cable. Her performance on this show earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series. She was previously nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for her work on the Showtime series Masters of Sex. Caplan’s other television credits include Paramount+’s “Fatal Attraction,” Netflix’s “Zero Day,” Starz’s “Party Down” and Hulu’s “Castle Rock.”
In film, Caplan recently appeared in the thriller film “Spider’s Web,” and has appeared in films such as the “Now You See Me” series, “Cloverfield,” and “127 Hours.”
She is repped by UTA, Rise Management and Jackoway Austen Tierman.
“Far Cry” will be broadcast overseas on FX, Hulu, and Disney+. Mack will executive produce under his More Better Productions banner, while Hawley will executive produce under an overall agreement with FX and Disney Entertainment Television via 26 Keys. Simon Emanuel will also executive produce alongside 26 Keys’ Emilia Serrano, 3 Arts’ Nick Frenkel, Monica Mather, Peter Calloway and John Campisi, and Ubisoft Film & Television’s Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill. The series is produced by FX Productions.
This will be the first live-action television adaptation of Far Cry. The game was made into a direct-to-video film in 2008 starring Til Schweiger and directed by Uwe Boll. Meanwhile, Netflix has released Captain Razorhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, an animated series inspired by Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, in 2023.
The first Far Cry game was released in 2004. Since then, five other games in the main series have been released, along with numerous spin-offs. The latest game, Far Cry 6, was released in 2021. Since its debut, over 100 million unique players have enjoyed the game.
