Amy Adams recently told the podcast “Smartless” that she used the skills she learned from the short-lived CBS medical drama “Doctor Vegas” to save the life of a stabbing victim.
Adams said she and her family were “first on the scene” of the stabbing as they emerged from their “favorite” restaurant in Santa Monica.
“People were screaming, and a guy was walking by, screaming, ‘He’s going to die!’ and my husband said, ‘That’s blood!'” Adams recalled.
Ms Adams said her husband Darren Le Gallo was with her daughter after she found the man “stabbed in the neck” and the daughter and her father rushed to help.
“He was bleeding and his friends were freaking out,” Adams said. She explained that she felt very “focused” the moment she used a beach towel to apply pressure to stop the blood flow.
Adams told the victim: “The more you struggle, the faster you bleed. Just lie down.” It was advice she learned when she played registered nurse Alice Doherty on “Doctor Vegas,” which aired for just five episodes on CBS in 2004. The show stars Rob Lowe as Dr. Billy Grant, a young doctor who lives and works at a classic Las Vegas resort and casino. Other cast members included Sarah Lancaster, Lisa Gabriel, Joe Pantoliano, Tom Sizemore, and Adam Clarke.
Adams said a year after the incident, she encountered a stabbing victim at a restaurant.
“A guy came up to me and was like, ‘I heard you and your dad were at the scene where a guy got stabbed,'” she recalled. “And I thought, ‘Oh my god, it’s you.’ And it was him.”
