Actor-producer Anshuman Jha’s First Ray Films will co-produce Error#404, an Indian animated feature from Baudayan Mukherji and Monalisa Mukherji’s Little Ram Films, marking the companies’ first foray into feature animation.
The film is one of five Indian projects selected for the MIFA Namaste India Pitch Session at the Annecy Animation Festival 2026 and will be shown to producers, distributors and financiers around the world this week.
Jha first came across the project when director Farah Khatun (whose previous credits include ‘Holy Lights’ and ‘I Am Bonny’) promoted the film at the 2025 Kerala Film Market. First Ray Films is currently committed to supporting the development and international expansion of the project.
Error #404 is set in the dystopian island city of Akala, where the oppressor has banned tree planting. When 10-year-old Gauri stumbles upon a colony of ghosts clinging to the last surviving tree, she is tasked with a dangerous mission. The idea is to rebel against the regime, plant trees, and save ghosts from extinction. At her side is a ragtag group of humans, non-humans, and fellow ghosts armed with magical seeds from the underworld.
The film won the Best Pitch award at India’s Animela 2026 ahead of its screening in Annecy.
“The moment I saw the pitch and met Farah at the Kerala Film Market, I knew this was something special,” Jha said. “It’s rare to find a story that is equally imaginative, funny and socially relevant. We are delighted to be a part of this beautiful journey with Bord Haan and Mona Lisa. You never know if a film can change the world. We hope that one day his daughter will see this and know that her father was trying to tell a story that cared about this issue. This is for her.”
“We are delighted to welcome First Ray Films to the project,” Monalisa Mukherji said. “Anshuman immediately identified with the emotional core of the film and understood its global potential. Having another like-minded creative producer strengthens our vision as we take Error #404 to Annecy and beyond.”
Little Lamb Films’ previous credits include ‘The Violin Player’, ‘Manikbabur Megh’ (The Cloud & the Man) and ‘Whispers of Fire & Water’. First Ray Films has built its base around independent Indian films with titles like ‘Lakadbaggha’, ‘Lord Curzon Ki Haveli’ and ‘Bajrangi’.
