Olivia Wilde is opening up about the drama that happened behind the scenes of her 2022 movie Don’t Worry Darling.
Ahead of the thriller’s premiere, rumors swirled that there was tension on set between the film’s stars Wilde, 42, Pugh, 30, and Harry Styles, 32.
However, Wilde insisted that speculation, including reports that she and Pugh had a shouting match during production, was false.
“I’ve never had a screaming match on set. I’ve never been unable to be on set,” the actress revealed to The Cut on Wednesday.
Wilde also reflected on the intense scrutiny surrounding her romance with Styles, whom she met while making the film. The two dated for about two years before breaking up in 2022.
Wilde described the relationship as “loving, wonderful and fun” and admitted that she was advised at the time not to publicly dispute the rumors.
“They told me, ‘Don’t say anything mean, just go out and smile,'” she recalls. “I resented that, but it taught me that that’s not how I want to handle things.”
“I wanted to say, ‘None of this is true,'” she added, noting that Hollywood “definitely robbed” her of her “innocence.”
The “Tron: Legacy” star added that he hates being misunderstood.
While filming the 2011 comedy Butter, co-star Jennifer Garner made an eye-opening remark about Wilde.
“She said it was like being put on a soap opera by the public,” the mother of two elaborated. “And they assign you obvious archetypes: damsel in distress, good girl, pretty girl.”
Wilde was originally an “object of desire” but felt that “Don’t Worry Darling” changed his label.
“I became a complete villain,” she said. “Like (Disney’s) Cruella (De Vil).”

Page Six has reached out to Pugh’s representatives for comment.
On Call Her Daddy earlier this month, Wilde addressed the public backlash she received for dating Styles.
“It really upset people. It was crazy,” she told host Alex Cooper. “I don’t know how much I understand yet.”
“People were so mad,” she confessed.
Page Six broke the news in July 2022 that Pugh wasn’t thrilled about Wilde and Styles’ relationship.
“What we can actually say is that it wasn’t nice for Flo to see Olivia and Harry staring at each other on set because she was still with Jason when Olivia first started dating Harry,” a source said at the time, referring to Wilde’s ex Jason Sudeikis.
The former couple were together from 2011 to 2020 and have two children, Otis, 12, and Daisy, nine.
Then, in September 2022, an insider who allegedly spent “a significant amount of time” on the film set claimed to Vulture that there was a “violent argument” between Wilde and Pugh in January 2021.
Pugh was reportedly unhappy with her co-star’s “frequent and unexplained absences.”
“Olivia and Harry will simply disappear,” the source claimed.
They revealed that tensions boiled over and a “screaming match” ensued.
At the time, sources also claimed that Styles’ relationship with Wilde was the reason the latter broke up with the “Ted Lasso” star.
A source told Page Six that Sudeikis was distraught over Wilde’s alleged affair with Styles.
“Jason and the kids had visited Olivia on set a few times initially, so I think all of that made people feel a little uncomfortable,” a source claimed at the time.
Despite rumors of behind-the-scenes issues, Wilde wrote of Pugh on Instagram: “It was an absolute thrill to watch this woman work! Can’t wait to show you more. @florencepugh@dontworrydarling.”
The “Thunderbolts*” star did not respond.
